WELCOME to Makana-Lani (Pronounced Ma-Kana-La-Ne)

Congratulations you have discovered the Puna district on the “Big Isle” the hidden area of the island with lush tropical forests and areas of untouched land where you can experience unspoiled Hawaii.

Tastefully decorated, this home is ideal, for anyone wanting a quiet retreat, special occasions such as Honeymoon’s, Anniversaries, couples traveling together and for anyone who would like to pamper themselves at a fraction of the cost of a hotel but with quadruple the amenities!

3 bedrooms ~ Master bedroom upstairs with king bed and private bath, guest bedroom upstairs with queen bed. Lower level Master bedroom with king bed and walk in style spa shower.

Choose from the Standard package or the Spa package which includes, use of hot tub (2-4 person ideal for 2 people it’s on the smaller size), terry cloth bath robes provided and disposable Spa slippers! (due to the high cost of electricity on the isle we believe if customers do not wish to use the features of the Spa Package they should not have to pay for them – therefore is optional) AGE restriction on Hot-tub availability is 12 years or older due to Property Insurance restrictions.

Spa package (hot-tub) not available during Summer season June-Oct. Air conditioning is included in Summer rate at no additional charge.

Makana-Lani is located in a quiet neighborhood on a dead end street no traffic! One quite neighbor to the left and no other houses around on either side of the street! Home is about 5 miles from the small town of Pahoa. There you will find many restaurants of all ethnic varieties, small grocery store, Burger king, Subway, a handful of unique shops, Hawaii Counties nicest community pool (Free with Life Guards on duty), and much more. There is a small convenience store located about 2.5 miles from the home should you not wish to drive into Pahoa.

The property is not ocean front but you can hear the wave’s as they crash against the shoreline when the surf is up.

Nearby are the ocean cliffs (5 minute stroll) where you can enjoy all types of sea life especially during the winter months. You can see humpback whales breaching at the ocean front park located just a short walk way where you can have a nice picnic and enjoy the beauty of this tropical paradise.

Makana-Lani is centrally located between all the sights on the Puna/Hilo side such as:

Geothermal Hot Ponds,
Volcano National Park
Kapaho tide pools (some of the best snorkeling on the island)
Farmers Markets different days of the week stretching from Makana-Lani to Hilo.
Beautiful waterfalls
Botanical gardens
And so much more!

So come and delight in the sounds of nature as every evening you are serenaded by a chorus of Coqui frogs singing you to sleep with their unique lullaby. Awake each morning to the sounds of song birds as they welcome the new day and all the adventure it holds for you. Enjoy watching the Geckos play as they stand guard assuring you won’t be ‘bugged’ during your visit. (Geckos menu of choice are mosquito’s and such).

This home is OWNER operated/maintained by Denny & Laurie and is the only vacation rental we have. We do not have multiple properties. . We choose to work directly with our guests through the whole reservation, payment, communication etc – pre and post stay of your vacation. This way we can ensure that our Guests experience is a pleasant and professional one from start to finish! Customer service is more then just getting a reservation booked each of our guests mean so much more and will be respected and treated as such.

Smoking is NOT permitted in the home and will not be tolerated but smoking is allowed in a designated covered outside comfortable smoking area.
